Paint and epoxy
Fullerenes have been used as additives in intumescent (bulging) fire-retardant paints. Due to the introduction of fullerenes, the paint under the influence of temperature during a fire swells, a sufficiently dense foam layer is formed, which several times increases the heating time to the critical temperature of the protected structures. When the modifier was introduced into the epoxy resin, there was an improvement in the impact resistance, Flammability, and tensile properties from 10% to 20%, depending on the volume of the modifier being introduced.
